Good Day Folks. I trust you are all doing well. Just a short intro to tell you what this thread is all about; My name is Walter and I have a great little Boy named Gerrit (7) We have a awesome relationship, He loves working with his hands / Technical just like Me. So here we are in South Africa, Johannesburg, where we have done many things like cinderblock building, wood constructions repairing electrical equipment like Drills and TV sets. The trouble is that we have never repaired something that We can enjoy when it is done:-( Thus I have thought of getting us a QUAD BIKE, sure sounds FUN enough.

It turned out to be a LT-F160 2007 Quadrunner, info received with the help from TIM. 2017 jaguar x owners manual. It is fairly beat up and does not want to start. The first thing I did is to get educated with this project as it will be the first quadbike We ever owned and therefore the SUZUKI FORUM. And now for the HAPPY part of it from the first post, I received only welcome reception and massive amount of help from USER: TIM and Ajl719. Awesome folks for sharing the Repair manual with us. See next paragraph for getting the manual I have a great deal of tech skill when it comes to internal combustion engines as I am a Aircraft Maintenance Engineer qualified on Boeing / Airbus (scarebus ) and rotorwing aircraft and the first thing we were taught and Taught and Taught some more is to ALWAYS do the maintenance and repair BY THE BOOK!!! OK enough chatter and more work.

First lesson Gerrit got to learn. I will post picture as we go along. I will also share technical info that I think might be interesting. OK HERE WE GO. Sout, good luck and do post pics of your project. Scarebus: Goofy damn airplanes. I'm a Boeing guy too.

Cut my teeth on 727's. Expended much sweat and blood on 747 freighters. Now working with 777's and NG's And yes, Read The Manual (RTFM)Hi Tim I trust you are well. Jip every time I get into the SCAREBUS and it takes of I see the fuselage twist I get cold shivers down my spine. I always said; if it aint Boeing I'm not going. So I got qualified on Super Puma helicopters then moved on to Airliners myself. I also cut my teeth on B727-200 and MD80-90 series.

My favorite machines are indeed the 767 and 777. Thanx again for all the help Walter. Hi again everyone So my son and I have started to do the fault finding on why our LTF-160 just would not start. We now have the manual and started working through it.

The first check in the manual is to check the compression. This is the pressure that the Piston makes when it moves up in the barrel compressing the fuel air mixture into the combustion chamber. Pressing all of the fuel and air together gives you a big explosion inside the engine when the spark plug sparks. This contained explosion is just what is required for the power delivery and as you can expect there must be as little leaks as mechanically possible and therefore this check. When you remove the spark plug and place the compression tester firmly in the hole, opening the throttle wide open and turning the engine over for a few times you will get a reading. If the reading is low that actually is an indication that your engine is leaking compression somewhere. The following is possible ( the compression rings are faulty / the valves are faulty or the valve timing is incorrect.

Less lightly causes are a burnt hole in the piston or even damaged barrel sleeve. OK so this is the first test we do and guess what.

Our Wheeler has just about no compression. This means that the rocker cover / cylinder head / barrel and piston needs to be disassembled.
