King Seeley Drill Press Manual

I have a friend who owns a Craftsman Model 103.0305 drill press. While I was using it, the belt pulley to the drill spindle (not the motor) broke, so I'm obligated to replace the broken part. It is a 4-track pulley with a splined shaft coupling. Sears / Craftsman does not show this drill press in their system anymore and was unable to provide me with a p/n. If anyone knows where I can buy a replacement pulley and the p/n for the pulley OR if a more recent Craftsman drill press model uses a compatible pulley, please advise. Thank you for your question on the old drill press. This drill press was manufactured by King Seeley Central Specialty of Chicago.

I think it was from the mid 1940's. As you have found out you are going to have a problem with finding the spindle parts for this old drill press. I would suggest looking on a web-site called Vintage Machinery.com Vintage Machinery drill press. You may be able to find a used part for this drill press from this wood working machinery forum. I am sorry that I could not help you with the parts you are looking for. Yes, I looked at the Vintage Machinery website, which is where I found a copy of the Operating Manual and parts list.

I didn't find anything pertaining to where to buy parts, however. I realize parts for this old drill press are likely very scarce. My thinking is that even if nobody knows where I can buy parts, maybe someone here knows of another commercially available 4-track pulley of the same size that will substitute or if maybe there's a later model drill press that does have current parts availability that used the same size pulley. Or, maybe someone reading this has the same drill press and can give me dimensional info on the pulley so I can make one (I work in a machine shop). If I hadn't lost the original pulley, I likely would have already done that. Thank you for the update on the drill press and I am sorry that I was not able to help you.

There are some other forums that may work better for you. Since most of the power tools are now made it foreign countries and work under the metric system I would doubt that you will get a match of parts for this drill press made in the U.S. I am sorry but I not have access information on the specifications you need for these parts.

Hopefully someone that reads this site will have some information for you. Hi Ted, I have the same Craftsman drill press model # 103.0305 and the same pulley is broken on mine. The bottom side of the largest pulley (slowest speed) has split off so I no longer have the slowest speed, but the rest of the pulleys are still fine so I can still run it at the 3 higher speeds.

You mentioned that you could fabricate a new pulley if you had the dimensions. If I can send you an adequate drawing, would you consider making a second one for me? I inherited this drill press from my grandfather and it would be great to be able to fully restore it. Any idea how much would you would charge? Please email me. David is correct.

Besides those diameters shown in the pic, I will also need: - Diameters at the bottom of each groove. Groove widths at the bottom - Height from the centerline of one groove to the next - Overall length - Step depths and diameters from the back of the largest pulley flange to the spline recess - Spline dimensions The easiest way to do this is if anyone has a spare pulley they wouldn't mind parting with for a week or so that they could send me. I can then reverse engineer it and send it back to you after I've got all dimensions I need to proceed. Even a broken / damaged pulley likely won't hamper my ability to get all the info I need to make one. I know I'm late to dinner on this, but any chance you could either upload/email/message me a copy of the pdf manual you said you found for this drill press please?? Or a link to it if it's that easy??

I'd much appreciate it if you, or anyone for that matter, could do that. I have an old Craftsman (Made by King Seely) drill press that I can't find the part number on (except for the electric motor's numbers, but it has a couple of issues and once I can identify it, i'll next be trying to decide if it's worth fixing or not. So yes, there's possibly a pile parts that could be had here!! Again, any help on that manual is appreciated (or since I'm here, if anyone knows where the part number location on these old things I could use that too). Ted, a friend just gave me his Grandfather's Craftsman by King Seely drillpress. It has been sitting unused for years & with some minor repairs it's running. It has been painted all over & is extremely dirty & greasy.

I'm in the process of cleaning it up & finally was able to get the name tag clean enough to see what it was. If you could tell me where the nomenclature tag is I'll check the part number. As I said this is running but if it's the same machine & I can get the pulley dimensions you want without removing it, I'm willing to help you out. I'm a little concerned about removing the pulley due to the age & I really haven't had a chance to inspect the stepdown pulley before removal. If that is the only way to get precise dimensions I'm willing to remove the pulley if your willing to make another in case mine breaks during removal. Let me know but I need to find the part number first, under the paint & dirt.

My email is sthames@comcast.net Thanks, Steve.
